Wedding Crashers

It was a great occasion to see Chucky get hitched to his lovely bride. All the family traveled back to Gary, IN to celebrate with him. That statement is so weird, considering several years ago, no one would have traveled for this wedding, because the entire family was still in Gary. Distance is tough, but it definitely makes the family grow stronger and closer, because we all cherish these moments and take full advantage of the time together! Daddy was up to his usual tricks along with the entire gang (Mont, Rashad, Malcolm, and Jamar). Notice the proximity of this picture to bar!!
Saraia and Langston really took over the dance floor. They whirled and dipped all night long. Saraia even got Daddy to get up and twirl her around like the little Princess she is.

Its easy to see how much fun these two had!! They didn’t even make out of the parking lot. Best Wishes to Chucky, the wedding was great!!

Breakfast Before the Wedding

This is the family time that we all love.  Good food, fun, and family!!  As we all arrived for Chucky's wedding we all met up for Saturday brunch at a local restaraunt.  BTW if you are in Gary stop at this place.  The pancakes were awesome and inexpensive.  It was great seeing everyone together and we turned a quick bite to eat into hours of great conversation.  Hamlers, Gibson, Morrands, McGhees, Vaughns all in one place all due to Chucky!! Thanks cuz.

Congrats the the new MAN in Gary.  Jamar is growing up into a fine pillar of the community.  He came by to show that his hard is starting to pay dividends.  He is decided to devote his life to community service and has started a non-profit organization focused on enriching kids lives.  I think this young man may be on his way to running Gary someday.  Jamar sky's the limit!!

Its not Delivery its Stover's

The Stover’s are a great couple that we have recently become close with. It is ashamed that we haven’t spent much time with them until now. They invited us over for a pizza night. We brought toppings and crafted homemade personal pizzas to enjoy. The kids really got into their creations and filled their bellies with pizza goodness. Langston and Aiden their son really played well together and Saraia was such the big sister making sure they followed the rules and didn’t hurt themselves.

To end the night, Evelyn whipped up some of her famous Cuban coffee for the adults and we all talked until the kids let it be known that it was time to go. Thanks Evelyn and the Stover’s for a great night out, or was it a night in?!

Sparkle Comes for a Visit

Saraia had the opportunity to bring a friend home for a sleepover. Surprisingly, the friend was a baby chick that her school had hatched. Each child was responsible for keeping the chick overnight. Mommy was so nervous about making sure the chick made it back to school okay. She did a great job of getting a box for the chick, a couple of dishes for water and food, and a lamp to maintain temperature. The chick was very comfortable and slept like a baby until the next morning. Saraia and her baby chick named sparkle enjoyed a fun-filled evening.

Scientist of the Week

It was Saraia's turn to be the Scientist of the Week. Daddy was excited about helping Saraia with this and leading the discussion on the subject in class. It would great to get up in front of the class and work with the kids. Daddy and Saraia went through many ideas before daddy saw something interesting in a book that he bought. After looking at it online, we decided to go with it. Apparently water can change state to somewhere between a solid and a liquid when it is mixed with corn starch. There are videos of people walking on it all over the YouTube. This would be great and scientific as well. Daddy and Saraia completed a trial run the night before to ensure that everything would work the next day.

Saraia delivered the lesson and completed the experiment in class with daddy’s help. daddy and Saraia took a handful of the cornstarch and water mix and rolled it into a ball that was firm, but as soon as we stopped, it went back to liquid stage and rolled right back into the bowl. Everything was going good until daddy asked the class if they wanted to try. The kids went wild and slung the corn starch and water mixture everywhere. When it was over, the carpet and the kids where a mess. Mrs. Smith was a good sport and didn’t fuss. Anyway, daddy and Saraia had a great time. Hopefully, we can do more experiments this summer.

Coby Cole Chase

On the way back from a family vacation, the Alexander’s stopped in for a visit. The kids haven’t ever really played together before, but after a quick introduction (again) they went off to the backyard swing-set for an adventurous time. For some reason Langston really wanted to play swords with a broom. That thing was three times as big as him, but he insisted on playing with it. Cobe, Cole, Chase, Saraia, and Langston all had a good time, while the adults sat and chatted about the anything and everything. Great to see Chun and T!!

Roommate Reunion

It was Chundell's birthday and the TSU roommates got together to show him some love.  It is always great to see old friends.  This group has bonded more and more each year.  It is good to know that you have friendships that will last a lifetime.

Closing Out a Chapter

We have been in Jackson, TN for over 7 years and that chapter is coming to a close.  Daddy has been working to move out of Jackson for about a year.  The ideal job would be located in St. Louis... good job and close to family.  Long story short, the St. Louis role did not look like it was becoming an option, therefore Plan B was put into effect.  A role in Cincinnati became available and Daddy went through a series of interviews.  Daddy was able to get the job in Cincinnati, working for Iams/Eukanuba.

Funny considering Daddy is not a pet lover!  Anyway, the job is located in Mason, which is in the suburbs so traffic should not be an issue.  It looks like Cincinnati will be a great move for us and the kids seem to be excited about the new possibilities.  Saraia is especially excited about getting her own room!  We just want to share the news and thank God for watching over our family... truly blessed!  Now the real work starts, getting the home sold and finding a new one!!!
